About this Event
Please join us for a screening of the film 5000 Blankets with special guest, producer Douglas Shaffer, live and in person.
5000 Blankets is based on an inspiring true story. When her husband has a mental breakdown and goes missing, a determined woman and her young son set out to find him on the streets, sparking a movement of compassion toward those in need.
This screening is in partnership with Chicago Public Library's Disability Pride Committee and with Mental Filmness, a Chicago film festival about mental health. The film's producer Douglas Shaffer will join us in facilitating a discussion surrounding the intersection of homelessness and mental health.
Optional blanket drive: If you wish, you may bring a blanket to donate to an organization that assists those experiencing homelessness.
