Meet our instructors:
George Wilson is a seasoned barber, men’s groomer, and on set grooming
professional with over 25 years of experience, specializing in camera ready
hair for film, television, and media. Known for his precision, efficiency, and
attention to detail, he consistently delivers polished, continuity conscious
looks in fast paced production environments.
His on set credits include work on productions such as Snowfall and the
upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, where maintaining consistency across
scenes, understanding lighting, and collaborating seamlessly with
production teams are essential. George brings a strong understanding of
how grooming translates on camera, from high definition close ups to
varied lighting conditions, allowing him to adapt quickly while preserving
the integrity of each look.In addition to his production work, George is the co owner of Art
BeautyEquilibrium, a Los Angeles based barbershop and salon. Through both his
shop and on set experience, he mentors barbers interested in expanding
into film and television, with an emphasis on professionalism, sanitation,
set etiquette, and long term career growth. His mission is to elevate the
standard of grooming in entertainment while helping open doors for the
next generation of barbers in media.
Melanie Ervin, is a hairstylist with over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry.
Her love for creating classic beautiful and unique hairstyles began when she had her
first class in theory over 20 years ago and that changed the game and her approach in
styling. Born and raised in Detroit Michigan, she credits a host of talented people in her
journey. First trained at Virginia Farrell Cosmetology College, she has received training
in precision hair cutting, barbering, high fashion styling as well as wig styling and
application traveling across the country honing her skills. She has also led master
classes in chemicals styling and permanent hair coloring and being awarded a
resolution of recognition from the International Cosmetology Expo for encouraging
professionals in furthering their education.
Melanie’s expertise ranges from classic styling to styling for periods of the past.
Whether it's a simple trim or a complete hair transformation, she strives to exceed
expectations and leave her muses feeling confident and beautiful. And sometimes the
job calls for the total opposite of beauty!
Melanie has worked in the hair department of various television programs, You can see
her work on shows including Hello Jack/ Apple TV, Twenties/BET, Mixedish/ ABD as well
as Reno 911. As the department head of hair, she led a team of stylists with their first
nomination by their peers for the 2021 MUAH awards for contemporary hair in a
children’s program. In addition, her work in television her work has been seen in major
campaigns for JP Morgan Chase, Instagram, Tik Tok, Uber, Wendys, Walmart and Shell
Gas the list goes on. Her styling can be seen on billboards and in global markets.
Aside from her technical skills, Melanie is also an entrepreneur. She received her
Associates Degree from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Product
Development, and when not on set or in the salon find her sourcing leather and
components where she uses to design handbags and other leather fine goods as a
hobby for her love for fashion.
