Kathak is a classical dance form from North India, specifically from the states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Known for its intricate footwork, expressive gestures, and captivating spins, it blends rhythm, grace, and storytelling to narrate epics and folklore, representing the vibrant culture and heritage of these regions.

Kathak artist Amanjeet holds a B.A in Business Management and has been dancing for over 20 years. A native New Yorker, she began her training in the Indian classical dance form Kathak, under the guidance of her guru, Abha Bhatnager Roy. She has worked within different styles such as Bhangra, Contemporary, Bollywood, Folk and Bharatnatyam, of which she trained under the guidance of Komala Kumari Devi in 2013. Amanjeet continues to conduct dance/lecture demonstrations for the Board of Ed. programs with NYC schools and assist in facilitating workshops in NYC Public Libraries to educate children and adults about Indian culture and dance. In 2023, she performed in the 'Song of Joy', an autobiographical Off-Broadway play by Carol Mazhuvencheril. She has recently completed her Rang Manch Pravesh (Kathak Dance Graduation). Currently, she is a Sr. student at Srijan Dance Center, NY, and a Teaching Artist at Ajna Dance Company.
