We're thrilled to welcome Katie Colvin to our June McKinney Creative Community gathering. A Dallas native — Oak Cliff born, Grapevine-Colleyville raised — Katie has found her creative home right here in McKinney. She'll be the first to call herself a serial crafter, someone who is happiest when she's making something, with her hands, out of just about anything. And more than that, she wants you to feel the same way.
For over two decades, Katie built a career as a project manager in healthcare IT — the kind of role where you keep everything moving without being the one writing the code. It was steady. It was stable. But it no longer fit. Two years ago, she stepped away from the corporate world and into something that scared her a little: entrepreneurship. Finding her own clients, building something from nothing, betting on herself. She did it anyway.
Today, Katie is the founder of KT's Craft 'n Draft, a mobile art entertainment business that brings hands-on craft workshops for adults to breweries, bars, wineries, and private events as well as mobile splatter painting for all ages across DFW. She's not after perfection — she's after fun, connection, and the quiet joy of finishing something you made yourself. Her mission is simple: put down the phone, get out of the house, and come create something that is uniquely you.
