Experience the night sky through the lens of internationally acclaimed photographer, and National Geographic Explorer at Large, Babak Tafreshi in this special afternoon presentation. Known for pioneering “The World at Night” movement, Tafreshi blends art, science and storytelling to capture breathtaking images that connect Earth’s most iconic landscapes with the vast beauty of the cosmos.
In this 75-minute live talk, Tafreshi will share the stories behind his work, from remote locations under pristine skies to collaborations with astronauts aboard the International Space Station. His images reveal a powerful perspective – that no matter where we are in the world, we are all looking up at the same sky.
Tafreshi’s work focuses on the night sky and includes some remarkable achievements, such as simultaneously photographing the night sky while an astronaut aboard the International Space Station photographs Earth at exactly the same moment. Some of the images he will share have only ever been seen by members of the National Geographic Society, including some stunning full dome imagery.
This event is best suited for ages 13+. Limited tickets available.
