"ALONE" TURNING UNSEEN WOUNDS OF DEPRESSION INTO WISDOM
Exciting News! Another Page Turner is Coming Soon. I am thrilled to officially announce my upcoming book, “ALONE” Turning Unseen Wounds of Depression Into Wisdom. Another story ✍️ published by Author Dr. Robert L Jamison 📖
Life is busy sometimes, so much so that we end up getting so caught up in the swirl of activity that we begin to lose connection with ourselves, others, or the world around us. If you’ve ever felt detached or off-center, you likely know the feeling.
There isn’t anything wrong with being disconnected every now and then, but to be present for our lives, we want to try noticing when we do lose ourselves and find ways to reconnect. Mindfulness is one great way to do just that — to plug you back into your body, mind, and present moment experience. This project is deeply personal and inspired by my work in the community and my clinical experience as a 35-year Healthcare Provider and 12 years background as the Director of Behavioral Health and Published Author of another inspiring book titled "The Turning Point" My new book titled “Alone” Turning Unseen Wounds of Depression Into Wisdom draws on research and real-world accounts to provide behavioral health resources and a roadmap to licensed clinical therapist for responsive mental healthcare that acknowledge, and understand why we sometimes feel depressed or disconnected.
It explores a framework for acknowledgement, understanding and offers options to guide you to the appropriate care professionals. If you find yourself feeling disconnected from the things, people and places that you once loved and felt excited about. The first step you do is to take action in solving the problem, which is recognizing that there is one. Another captivating aspect of this book, It shares the profound story of the day that forever altered the course of my life. Through captivating storytelling and heartfelt wisdom, I'll take you on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and personal growth.
From the moment I woke up on that fateful day, September 6, 2012 the day my mom passed away and the day I knew something in my life was different. That's when the loneliness and symptoms of depression kicked in because losing your mom that’s a pain you never get over. It’s like a hole in your soul that nothing can fill. People think time heals everything, but it doesn't, time just teaches you how to carry it away, one day you’re fine the next day it hits you, like it happened all over again. Then you find yourself waiting on that call or text that you know is never coming and that’s when you realize she’s gone forreal. You’re not the same and people will never understand that, grief isn’t something you move on from It’s something that you learn to live with and that’s ok.
The book "Alone" Turning Unseen Wounds of Depression Into Wisdom are real-life stories that bring a unique depth to empower individuals surviving from depression, making the lesson learned more powerful for the readers. It's a potent reminder that even in our darkest hours, and trust me I know the feeling, when you are in a dark place, it can feel like nothing will help and nothing will ever change.
That's why I had to do something, so in 2010 I created a company called Alternative Healthcare LA. It was established to assist practices in remote locations with their medical and psychiatric needs. One of our available tools is a Behavioral Health Assessment (BHA). This assessment helps identify: Trauma (PTSD), Depression, Anxiety, Suicide, Substance Abuse, and Bipolar disorder and tracks the individuals progress over time. The test is secure, HIPAA compliant, and takes about ten minutes to complete. The results are provided to the individual and the appropriate management team for evaluation to take the next steps to get clients the professional assistance they require by our mental health professional who helps people understand and cope with their mental health, emotions, and behaviors. Our nationally recognized, peer-reviewed, and clinically validated Behavioral Health Assessment measures seven different dimensions. (depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar, addictions, suicide, a functional level.) Patients can take the assessment on any web-enabled device in under five minutes. Clinicians receive clear results that measure and monitor patients for the best possible care.
I don’t have to share all of the stats about the inequities and disparities in publishing when it comes to Black authors. One way to change that is through supporting our work. Pre ordering, sharing, and amplifying authors. I am so excited to bring this book into the world and continue contributing to the critical conversations surrounding the unseen wounds of depression, and healing in mental health spaces. Most importantly, If you are feeling depressed or disconnected please feel free to reach out so we can help.
Stay tuned for updates as we move closer to the book signing day, and thank you all for your support on this journey!
