Meditation Without Expectations™ (MWE) is a live-streaming 8-week course that has been proven to reduce feelings of stress and overload, and to increase resilience, empathy, and mindfulness.
Participants
- Attend a live session each week, which includes a check-in, short lecture, practice together, and discussion / Q&A. There are 3 times to support different time zones.
- Develop new habits by practicing in class and on their own over two months. You choose your homework and how to integrate the practices into your life.
- Gain new awareness and insight into how we think, feel, live, and work.
- Are empowered to adapt and chose different actions based on their new awareness.
- Feel reassured by having by an experienced and trusted guide, and safe supportive community learning and practicing together.
No prior meditation experience is required. This approach is effective for both new and experienced students.
The course is most impactful for people who attend all/most sessions and feel ready to practice meditating. That said, some people join who are just curious and seeking information, enjoy it and find value in attending.
This course meets live every week starting January 27 through March 17, 2025. Choose any of 3 times to join each week: Mondays 11 am - noon, Mondays 8 pm - 9 pm, Tuesdays 7 am - 8 am (Eastern Standard Time, US/Canada).
This Eventbrite listing is for the entire 8-week series, all 3 times. (The system forces me to only list one time but it's for all.) You may join one, two, or all three weekly sessions as suits your schedule. A Zoom link for all sessions is provided to all registrants.
Cost is flexible. What matters most is participation. Please contribute whatever makes sense for your means and life situation, and commit to showing up to a live session each week. Although the going rate for this kind of program is more than $1000, I want to ensure accessibility for people who are committed to learning these skills, which will help improve everyone’s lives and our sustainability. Suggested range for registration fee: $170 to $400 for the 8-week series. Really, it's OK to contribute less or more given your situation.
This course is developed and taught by Annie Weisbrod, Ph.D. MWE integrates important health coaching, adult learning, behavior change, and meditation techniques and perspectives (which are unfortunatley missed by some other meditation-based programs). I am a highly experienced meditator and teacher, with more than three decades and 20,000+ hours of meditation practice, education, and certifications in several related fields.
The MWE program teaches 8 meditation techniques in a specific order, including:
- Being present with awareness: 5 and 20+ Senses, Open monitoring
- Dealing with distractions: Counting and Mantra
- Compassion and healing: Metta and Tonglen
- Relection and gratitude: R.A.I.N and Naikan
Since 2020, thousands of people from >30 countries have enrolled in this course. Many take it repeatedlly and encourage their colleagues, friends, and family to sign up - because it works.
