Join Rev. Sudhamma for Nature Retreat - Great Woods Zen - December 3, 2023 (Sunday) 9am - 12pm + picnic
A special time for quiet meditation and invigoration in nature.
We will meet at Greatwoods Zen retreat center (not far from the Vihara) for a morning of meditation and teachings. The center is nestled in 28 beautiful acres of woods out Hickory Grove Rd - a lovely oasis in the city.
Our activities may be indoors in the zendo or outdoors in the forest, or both, depending on weather.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to settle in, program begins right at 9am
Schedule:
• 8:45am Settle in
• 9 am Welcome and words of encouragement
• The next hours will offer sitting meditation, walking meditation, a silent nature walk and Dhamma reflections. Solitary forest practice is also an option.
• Noon Picnic Lunch (optional) Please bring your own picnic lunch or snacks, beverages & cooler if needed.
STUFF TO BRING: Wear modest loose-fitting clothing (covering shoulders knees & belly). Bring your own meditation cushion if possible as the cushions there are limited. Remember to bring anything needed for an outdoor program: cloth or mat to sit on, non-toxic mosquito spray, hat, sunscreen, walking shoes, beverage to carry with you in the forest. And picnic supplies!
ACCESSIBILITY: The forest is surprisingly accessible by car. The restroom and toilet downstairs is accessible to those of different abilities.
