Shop, compare and save at the 39th annual Medina County Home & Garden Show on February 28 and March 1 at the Medina County Community Center, presented by Fixler Roofing, featuring a red, white and blue trubute to the 250- year history of America.
The focal point of the Main Garden will be a 13 foot by 8 foot American flag made completely of plants. Local artists will be demonstrating colonial crafts in the garden: spinning and weaving, finger pottery, working with leather. And don’t miss the backyard front porch constructed of vintage doors.
Medina’s John Burke will be in full dress uniform representing Revolutionary War Colonel James Smith who was captured and adopted by Indians during the French and Indian War and spent the winter of 1756 at Whipp’s Ledges in Hinckley, Ohio. He was later commissioned as a Colonel in the Revolutionary War, fighting in three battles with General Washington.
America could never have survived to its 250th birthday if it weren’t for the unselfish service of our veterans. To honor the sacrifices made by them, all veterans with military ID will be admited free on Sunday, March 1 to thank them for their service.
Meet face-to-face with the experts in home improvement, landscaping and home projects to find the best answer to your home upkeep questions. Services include flooring, fencing, landscaping, sunrooms, patios, kitchens, bathrooms, pools, painting, windows, doors, gutters, roofing, siding, basement waterproofing, decks, concrete, pressure washing, heating & cooling, tree care, and more! If you're looking to improve your home or yard, it's a great place for one-stop shopping to compare pricing and quality. And in most cases you'll be talking directly with the person doing the work for you, not a trade show salesperson.
Throughout the show, local experts will offer helpful information and tips on Presentation Stage sponsored by Ohio State Waterproofing. Topics include “Cooking with Dandelions,” “Mastering the Perfect Crème Brûlée,” “How to Make your Own Fresh Butter,” “Right Plant, Right Place – Ohio’s Native Plants,” “Daring Adventures of Women Patriots During the Revolutionary War,” “Spring is for Splitting Perennials,” “Don’t Trash It, Compost It.”
In the Grand Prize Drawing sponsored by Home Genius Exteriors, each attendee can enter to win a choice from several fun door prizes like a 10X10 foot pergola, the free use of a dumpster from Sharpe Container, an Outdoor Potting Bench and more. Winners will be announced on Sunday at 5pm. Winners do not need to be present.
Kids love the creative balloon creations of Tara the Flower Clown and she will be at the show from 12 to 3pm each day. Piano player, Duane Carlson, will tickle the ivories to entertain guests on Saturday from 11am to 2pm and Sunday from 12 to 3pm.
Swine BBQ will be running the kitchen and serving up their authentic slow smoked barbecue for all to enjoy. Lily’s Lemonade will have their fresh made fruity lemonade to quench your thirst while you’re enjoying the show.
The Annual Amateur Backyard BBQ Cook-off sponsored by Deck Creators will be held outdoors on the north side of the building all day on Saturday with judging at 4 pm. All who claim to be BBQ experts are invited to participate. It’s only $10 to participate and cash prizes and trophies are on the line. For all details and a registration form, email [email protected]. Attendees can go out and visit with the competitors and to learn their secrets to perfect barbecue flavor and maybe even get a sample.
At the close of the show on Sunday at 5pm all the plant materials in the Main Garden will be sold off at below wholesale prices. The public is invited to get in on some great deals on beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees.
