About this Event
“Centering Creativity as a Means for Collective Healing and Radical Imagination”
Medicina is a healing space co-created in community with the intention of coming together to honor and uplift a featured artist along with the BIQTPOC and or Womxn of Color community members who choose to share their gifts. Furthermore, Medicina invites all to engage in dialogue in order to radically imagine a new world by carving out time for collective reflection and collaborative building. Conversations of inspiration, process, and connectivity are strengthened by the vulnerability and support present in the space. Thus, the conscious decision to hold this event in a small intimate group setting was made in order to create a brave space in which members feel seen and held.
Art is medicine. A powerful and transformative force. As creative beings, our spirit longs for this mode of release, re-membering, and envisioning. When practiced and shared, it provides a portal for self-discovery through which we can reflect, heal, and envision a new world.

Medicina Open Mic was created by Colectivo Cihuateotl. Colectivo Cihuateotl is an autonomous community centered organization deeply committed to empowering Black, Indigenous, Queer, Trans, Womxn, Femmes, Gender Expansive and or Gender Non-Conforming Folks of Color as they free themselves from deep seated colonial mentality, break cycles of internalized oppression and heal generations of trauma.
