Medications Used in Palliative Care

This session will give you information on the common groups of medications used in palliative care to manage symptoms. Effective symptom management can be achieved with an understanding of the medications prescribed. As a patient deteriorates, they may experience new symptoms or an exacerbation of their present symptoms and it is important to select the most effective Medic*tion to administer or prescribe. As with all medications, it is important to be aware of their side effects, in particular the signs and symptoms of TOXICITY when using opiates.
