There’s no place like home! Learn about our Medical Foster Homes by stopping by this information table at our main hospital in North Chicago. Potential homeowners/caregivers are invited as well to learn how they can provide a home for Veterans.
The Medical Foster Home (MFH) program is seeking Veterans for our open homes at Lovell FHCC and nationwide. MFHs provide a safe, supportive, long-term care option for Veterans in a comfortable home environment and can serve as an alternative to a nursing home. MFHs are private residences where the caregiver and relief caregivers provide room and board, personal care, and supervision, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This caregiver can help the Veteran carry out activities of daily living, such as bathing and dressing. Currently, there are over 700 enrolled MFH Veterans with approximately 500 MFH caregivers in 48 states and territories.
If you can't make it to this information table and need more information, or if you are a Veteran interested in a referral to the MFH program, please speak with your VA Primary Care Physician or call MFH Program Coordinator John Zidek at 224-623-5731.
