About this Event

About This Event:

Over four weeks, build your musical skills and be transported through time with Song Book!

In this program, participants will explore a range of musical genres – from Country and Jazz to Rock & Roll – through song-based group learning. Each week the group will learn new songs and be introduced to a variety of instruments.

Beginner level instruction will be provided for guitar, ukelele, piano and voice.

Over four weeks, participants will:

  • Learn music theory and hone musical skills through performing historically important compositions and explore the cultural histories that have shaped music over time.
  • Build confidence making music with others, by practicing rhythm, harmony, and communication in a group setting.
  • Explore playing genres including Blues, Jazz, Country and Rock & Roll.

Please note, this course is a four-week commitment, Wednesdays 5-26 August 5:30-7:30pm, so please ensure you can attend all sessions before booking.

  • Week 1 – Country: Rural Life Across Continents
  • Week 2 - Folk to Jazz
  • Week 3 - Modern Popular Music (Jazz Age)
  • Week 4 - Modern Popular Music (Spirit of the 60’s)

Cost: $27.50 for four sessions.

Age: 16+

Skill level: All levels of musical experience welcome.

Equipment: All instruments will be provided; however, participants are welcome to bring instruments from home or borrow from the Musical Instruments collection.
