On Friday, May 8th, at 6:00 PM, the Edarcom Europa gallery at Via Macedonia 12 in Rome will host the opening of a solo exhibition by Mauro Molle (Rome, 1977), titled "Yoi tabi wo," "Have a nice trip" in Japanese. Curated by Francesco Ciaffi, Romina Guidelli, and Alice Crisponi, the exhibition features approximately thirty works, including oil paintings and watercolors, created by Mauro Molle since last summer, recounting the evocative experience of a traveling trip to Japan last year.
In the catalog, Francesco Ciaffi writes, "A profound expert in painting technique and a masterful draftsman, Molle sketches a personal portrait of Japan in which, in keeping with his well-known artistic exploration, he places the balance between seemingly contrasting elements at the center."
Romina Guidelli further observes that "the artist engages with aesthetic principles deeply rooted in traditional Japanese culture: wabi-sabi, which recognizes the value of fragility, imperfection, and the impact of time on matter; ma, understood as interval and active space, the gap between forms that regulates the perceptual rhythm; mono no aware, sensitivity to the transience of things, which transforms impermanence into a sublime aesthetic experience."
Finally, Alice Crisponi notes that "Molle demonstrates a connection with this country, refusing to represent its symbols through the filters of his own culture, but rather welcoming them on an equal footing with equal dignity, encouraging a hybridization of the natural with the artificial, the ancient with the modern, the discreet with the flashy, as occurs in contemporary Japan but perhaps as has always occurred in his pictorial approach."
The opening toast will be hosted by Enoteca Raspo Urbano. The exhibition "Yoi Tabi Wo" will be open until June 6th.
