As recorded in John's gospel, on his last night before his betrayal and arrest, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and then gave them a new commandment to love one another as he had loved them (John 13:34). Communion will be offered at our Maundy Thursday service to commemorate the holy sacrament’s foundation that occurred at Jesus’ Last Supper.
Maundy Thursday will be a time of somber reflection as we contemplate the Holy Week events to come. The day is also a time to remember Jesus’ new commandment and to consider how we might show Christ’s love to the world.
