About this Event
Event Information:
Introducing A conversation in drawing with artist Matilda Sutton as part of her exhibition, Coalesence at the Dead Dog Gallery.
Event Dates:
Tuesday 5th May 4 - 6pm
Tuesday 12th May 4 - 6pm
Session one: Matilda will lead a series of experimental mark-making / drawing exercises, involving working individually and in pairs. These exercises will be short and use different tools and involve responding to prompts, drawing from objects and from life, and from each other's descriptions & drawings. Participants will produce a range of drawings which will be used in the next session.
Session two: Using the drawings (or scans/photocopies) produced in session one, in small groups participants will collaborate to create a story-bord like collage/drawing on long sections of paper. Thinking about symbolism, narrative and figures in art, we will use collage elements from previous drawings, transcribe drawings onto the final piece and use colour pencil, pastel and paint to bring the imagery together.
Cost: £16 for both sessions at full price or £8 for concessions. (Please ensure to purchase one ticket only)
All materials are provided.
Please note this is an adult class, suitable for 18+
DSFC is located a short walk from the train and bus stations.
