Mastering Dip Pens (calligraphy workshop)

Intimidated by dip pens? Not anymore! This class is designed for students who have been practicing calligraphy with cartridge pens or markers and want to transition to the professional calligrapher’s tool of choice: the dip pen.

In this workshop, you will:

• Gain confidence using dip pens and a variety of nibs
• Explore exciting ink options, including metallics and specialty inks
• Learn the techniques needed for writing on dark paper
• Practice calligraphy in different sizes, including the ultra-small
• Get an invaluable lesson on fixing mistakes—a skill that students say is worth the class alone!

This class does not introduce a new calligraphy style—instead, it helps you refine your existing skills while unlocking new creative possibilities with dip pens. Whether you're nervous about making the switch or just want to expand your toolkit, this class will transform the way you approach calligraphy!

WHO: This class is designed for adults and mature adolescents.

PREREQUISITE: Beginning Italic Calligraphy OR at least 4 months' study of any broad-edge calligraphy style(s).

WHERE: Online via Zoom.

(LIVE interactive online workshop, 12 students maximum)

RECORDINGS: Available for review for an extended period.

WHEN: This class includes 6 weekly lessons,

on Tuesdays, July 29 through September 9, 2025(NO class on September 2),

from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Eastern Time.
