ARCHAEOLOGICAL STORYTELLING AS A METHOD IN RESEARCH AND DISSEMINATION
About this Event
Master Class on “Storytelling The Past”– for PGT, PGR and PhD students at the University of Edinburgh in Archaeology, Classics, History and Social Anthropology.
While “narratives” have always been part of archaeology, Creative Storytelling is emerging as a new method of research and dissemination. In this student-led Master Class, we will explore this with Prof Þóra Pétursdóttir (University of Oslo), a contemporary archaeologists interested in material memories and their stories. Bring your own story of the site or material culture that you are researching, in spoken word, text, images, visualisations, etc. - and let us explore their stories, thinking about:
“How to tell a good story?”
“What archaeological stories are significant and why?”
“How to balance fact and fiction?”
The Master Class will last about one hour, followed by a sandwich lunch for informal questions and discussions. Please note, places are limited and bookings by students of the subject areas mentioned above will be prioritised.
Please contact Dr Tanja Romankiewicz [email protected] if you have any further questions.
