The goal is to grow together, allowing your dance to flow naturally—with authentic Cuban sabor—and to build a deeper, more conscious connection to the music as you interpret it.
This space is for those who want to dance with musicality. And if your focus is different, that’s perfectly fine too—everyone expresses the music in their own way.

🕚 11:00 – 12:00 | Abakuá EFO Fundamentals
In this class, we will explore and understand from the root the basic foundations of Abakuá dance—an essential style within Afro-Cuban culture that has deeply influenced dances such as Columbia, as they share a similar dance concept, structure, and intention.
Studying Abakuá not only helps us better understand Columbia, but also gives us a rich source of inspiration in terms of movement, energy, and presence within the Rumba complex in general.
🕚 12:00 – 13:00 | Rumba Columbia
We will dive into Rumba Columbia, a style traditionally performed by male solo dancers, where creativity, acrobatics, rhythm, and elegance come together. That said, there have also been powerful female rumberas who have embraced and represented this style.
We will work on body control through movements of the arms, shoulders, and feet—developing coordination, strength, and rhythmic expression. The workshop is open to all levels, with progressions adapted to your experience.
🕚 13:00 – 14:00 | Afro-Cuban Dance in Timba
You will learn to identify Abakuá elements within Timba, both in the lyrics and in the rhythm. We will also explore how to integrate Rumba Columbia into your MenStyle, using the freedom of shoulders, arms, and legs to expand your range of movement, increase body awareness, and add more depth to your dance.
✅ Level
⚠️ Important: For the first two hours (Abakuá and Rumba Columbia), the level is open, as we will build the class according to the group’s rhythm and learning pace. The idea is to integrate the fundamentals properly from the base, step by step.
For the Afro-Cuban Dance in Timba class, to get the most out of it, it is recommended to have some experience dancing solo Timba steps, as the music in this genre is more explosive and dynamic.
