Marlborough
Marlborough is a market town and civil parish in the English county of Wiltshire and it boasts the second-widest high street in Britain. It has a reputation for being a serious place to shop and you'll find many of the big name chains here, plus an extensive choice of highly individual shops.
Highclere Castle
Known to many as Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle has opened its doors to the public. This is an extremely popular trip for fans of the TV show as well as fans of majestic country houses.
This romantic Victorian Castle was built for the 3rd Earl of Carnavon by the pre-eminent architect, Sir Charles Barry, who also built the Houses of Parliament in London at the same time. The Castle also has a fascinating link with Egyptology, with the 5th Earl having famously discovered the Tomb of the Egyptian Boy Pharaoh, Tutankhamun, in 1922 with his archaeological colleague, Howard Carter.
