About this Event
Ever wondered what it takes to turn farm produce into food people will line up to buy? This immersive, fast paced, hands-on summer apprenticeship is designed for teens who want to learn the full journey of food from harvest, to kitchen, to market table. Working as a small culinary team, apprentices will design vegetarian, farm-to-table market menus, prepare and execute dishes, then sell their creations at market. We will dig into the business side by evaluating results, tracking costs and planning what comes next throughout the apprentice experience.
As a part of this apprenticeship, participants will gain experience in basic culinary skills, menu planning and recipe tasting, working in a professional-style kitchen environment, farm-to-table concepts, marketing skills such as packaging, presentation, customer interactions, and basic sales, as well as teamwork, leadership, and communication.
