ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Mark Mayer is the author of About, Above, Around: 50 Prepositions, winner of the George Garrett Fiction Prize. Mayer’s debut collection, Aerialists (Bloomsbury, 2019), won the Michener-Copernicus Prize and was shortlisted for the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing. His writing has appeared in American Short Fiction, The Kenyon Review, Guernica, The Iowa Review, Best American Mystery Stories, and The New York Times. After five years teaching in the MFA program at the University of Memphis, he is now a professor of fiction at Skidmore College.
