JAZZIN THE JUNCTION: On Saturday evenings this winter, JazzInToronto proudly presents a brand new series featuring some of the city's finest jazz musicians. The setting is the intimate & charming La Rev Cocina & Cantina, where the authentic Mexican cuisine is irresistible.
ABOUT MARK EISENMAN & ALEX DEAN:
Mark Eisenman (piano) and Alex Dean (saxophone) are continuing their long standing musical relationship in this duo setting.Mark collaborated with Alex on his Quartet/Quintet recording projects which include Dreamsville, Both Feet, and Kaitlyn’s Waltz. (and other recordings)
Both of these players have long and extensive careers that are just touched on below.Alex Dean, one of Canada’s foremost jazz saxophonists, has been a mainstay of the Canadian music scene for many years. He has played and recorded with Gil Evans, Kenny Wheeler, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Harry Connick Jr., Phil Nimmons, the Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.Alex held the tenor saxophone chair with Rob McConnell’s Grammy award winning Boss Brass and, the Juno award winning Rob McConnell Tentet.Mark Eisenman has performed with numerous eminent Canadian and U.S. jazz artists including the following: Scott Hamilton, Art Farmer, Lew Tabackin, Barney Kessell, Ed Bickert, Rob McConnell, Guido Basso, and Pat Labarbera.
Mark is proud to have recorded with drummer Jimmy Cobb. (Sweet and Lovely) Knowledgable jazz fans will recognize Cobb as the drummer on Kind Of Blue. (Miles Davis’ classic recording).Mark’s latest recording with Mike Murley (Recent History) was a Juno nominee in 2024..
