Make paper marigolds at Brentwood Mall, Burnaby on Oct 18. A family-friendly Día de los Muertos workshop honoring tradition & culture.
About this Event

In Mexican tradition, the cempasúchil (marigold) is known as the flower of the dead. Its vibrant orange and yellow petals are believed to guide the spirits back to the living world during Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations.

In this hands-on workshop at Brentwood Mall Plaza, participants will craft their own paper marigolds using crepe and tissue paper while learning about the cultural and spiritual significance of these sacred flowers.

What You’ll Learn
  • Step-by-step techniques to create paper marigolds
  • The cultural meaning of marigolds in Mexican heritage
  • Their role in ofrendas (altars) and Day of the Dead rituals
  • A creative keepsake to take home or add to your altar

Who Can Join?

This activity is family-friendly and open to all ages. It’s ideal for children, youth, and adults who want to connect with Mexican traditions through creativity and craft.
