San Francisco soul and pop stalwarts, Marc & the Casuals are lead by Marc Capelle a session and live performer who has played with American Music Club, Grandaddy, Rodriguez, Vetiver, Tommy Guerrero, Third Eye Blind and gospel group, The West Coast Spiritual Corinthians. He joins a 21st Century wrecking crew of musicians; Michael Urbano ( Todd Rundgren, Sheryl Crow, Camper Van Beethoven) on drums, Pete Straus ( Dwarves, John Wesley Harding) on bass, Bart Davenport (Honeycut, The Kinetics, The Loved Ones) vocals and guitar, Tom Ayres (Persephone’s Bees, Chuck Prophet, Red Room Orchestra) vocals and guitar and special guest guitarist, Xan McCurdy ( Cake, The Kinetics, The Loved Ones).
With a long tradition of dance shows and soul revues with surprise guests and performers, this marks their return to their home stage at the Chapel.
Founded in 1965 by Melvin Booker, Henry “Pee Wee” Curtis, Willie Meyers and Ruben Jackson the Corinthians were considered one finest quartet style Gospel groups in the nation. The Corinthians toured across the United States and shared stages with Al Green, The Soul Stirrers, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Pilgrim Jubilees, and many others.
Amongst the alumni from the group are guitarists Joe Louis Walker and Frank Zappa band member, Ray White and soul superstars, Little Esther and Raphael Saadiq.
Heralded by KPFA radio as “full throttle gospel.” They reunite here in 2021 in a very special program in tribute to founder Melvin Booker’s 90th Birthday.

Florida to Oakland transplant Harold Ray, aka Jason Morgan is an American soul-singer/performer. Equal parts master showman and work-a-day hero, Harold Ray gained local-fame in his early bands Harold Ray Live in Concert, Eastbay Grease and Total BS. His current list of rock-and-roll hot shots, East Side Dynamite are determined to light the fuse to the grooves, and a blasting cap for your moves. Pick up the phone: high energy, soul-drenched rock and roll is stalking you!
