About this Event
Calling all storytellers & story lovers!
In celebration of #Portsmouth100, this lion sculpture in the Pride of Portsmouth art trail will be carrying on its back a Map of 100 Portsmouth Stories. But a map is not complete without the story of places on them.
Help bring this lion to life with your stories of people and places in Portsmouth that brought the joy of stories to story lovers everywhere!
Meet November Tan, the artist of the lion at our traveling booth as we visit libraries across Portsmouth. Come share your stories of:
- Authors (fiction and non-fiction) and their related people & places in Portsmouth
- Portsmouth places in literary works (share your favorite lines from poems, books, plays & films)
- Places that brought the joy of stories and reading to you (libraries, bookstores, publishers and more!)
How do my stories get on the lion?
Add your stories by pinning the map, and fill our zine with stories, quotes and sketches. November will add your pins, stories and places as text or sketches on the lions so you can look out for them over the summer when the lion goes parading around the city!
When do I come?
Drop by Southsea Library any time between 11am to 2pm and explore the delightful line up of books, display and activities. You are welcome to hang out, read or draw at your leisure. Better yet, join in our open mic to read from a book or a poem by our local Portsmouth authors!
Do I need to register?
Registration is optional but we'll be happy if you would like to let us know you are coming. You could also register to leave us your email so that we can email you with updates on the progress of the lion!
