Paul Klemperer & Manteca Beat will perform a special concert on April 12 funded in part by the City of Austin’s Live Music Fund Program. The music will feature an expanded lineup to include up-and-coming younger musicians the Manteca Beat Allstars.
Saxophonist Paul Klemperer part of Austin’s music community for over 40 years formed Manteca Beat in 2004. The band’s mission is to showcase what he calls “Americano Music” Jazz Blues Latin and other popular styles that have shaped American music.
For this year’s project the Manteca Beat Allstars are using Texas and Gulf Coast musical traditions to compose original works. In addition they created their own arrangements of classic songs which are part of Austin’s unique musical heritage.
