She gives! She serves! She attacks! She DEFIES! Expectations will be shattered as trixxie carr takes the stage with a grant from the San Francisco Arts Commission to create a piece of drag musical theater unlike any other! This is a story of the horror of being misunderstood while knowing one’s self; the fragility of strength, and the strength found in being fragile. The assumption held by mainstream society that the artist, the woman, the human, must suffer and sublimate themself to gain acceptance and success are crushed underneath her high heels as she slays the stage yet again. As we travel through space and time together in our protected pocket of air and water, we often take for granted the fragility of our existence and the strength it takes to endure the constant changes driving us towards death with every breath: to live is to sacrifice life with every moment. But a sacrifice for what? But is there ever an ending? Or is all just transformation? And when we make the choice to not sublimate ourselves to the expected patterns, what new understandings of the shared destination of an inevitable “ending” open up for us? What new ways to create understanding and connection await us on these alternate paths? We cannot know unless we EXXPLORE! Break out of your shell!

“But what is it?”, you might ask. You should not know what this non-linear, experimental musical theater piece is about - embrace the mystery and show up for the exxperience - if you know trixxie carr then you know, and if you don’t, it’s time to learn! That being said…

MANISACRIFESTRIXX is a new multimedia theatrical work by trixxie carr, a drag performer well known in San Francisco for her genre defying creativity, powerhouse vocals and stage presence, and unique vision. Exploring feminine power and society's fear of it through the lens of drag performance, and the intersection of emotion and science, trixxie challenges and examines assumptions about female identity and its expressions, as well as her own existence itself.

Who IS she?! Who does she think she IS?

With a nonstop drag career spanning decades, there’s a reason you still may not know this Queen: when every theatrical movie trailer tells you exactly what the entire thing is before you see it, and every musical act is carefully packaged to cater to a certain palette in the interest of sales, trixxie carr is far too complicated and confusing to be easily commodified by the mainstream corporate entities  of today. Always on the edge and in the subculture spotlight, trixxie carr is a legendary performer who has maintained her career while avoiding commercialization - true San Franciscan who continues refusing to conform.

Previous works include “Hold Me Closer, Tiny Dionysus” (CounterPULSE), “The Right to RULE” (Gorilla/AND Festival, UK), “Salome, Dance for Me” (New Conservatory Theater Center / NCTC), “herSELF” (Playground), and a vast roster of drag performances and cabaret productions at OASIS and various venues in and out of the Bay Area.

“trixxie carr is an astonishing performer.” Alison Sacha Ross

“trixxie carr is part nerdy art history buff, part intellectual social commentator, all wrapped up in a sexy chanteuse's clothes.” Jim Weston
