We welcome you to our first of 4 seasonal ‘Mango Frequencies’ in collaboration with Roshni Bhagotra, En Root is deeply rooted in food culture and the journey that never stops. Roshni is an artist and arts educator who works with installation, sound, radio, moving image and performance practices.
MANGO FREQUENCIES is an experience in sound system culture on a different wavelength through spiritual meditation, listening, movement expanding our collective consciousness and connection through positive vibrations. Alongside En Root aligned nutritional and revitalisational elements to fuel the exploration, we will route from the shared root of India via colonial routes via the Caribbean as well as Africa and to UK. Bringing together our expertise across meditation, sound system culture, music, and vibrational sound for an evening of interaction, connection, relaxation, and gentle movement we embark on the journey of food and sound culture in the wider east from the root origin in Eastern Spirituality.
The evening will unfold with a bass focused alternative meditation then slowly build and lead into more lively sounds where people can dance and move whilst we maintain space and time for eating, drinking and listening to stories that embody the journey that never stops
FEATURING:
Kaya M will DJ, a South Asian sister of Mango descent, will be blessing the space with sounds to align. Drawing on rhythms from East Africa, Jamaica and the Caribbean, Kaya M selects pieces highlighting the migration of music and people. “There’s a recurrent theme of social, cultural and political issues running through reggae music, and that is its main purpose for me.
Nishanti will also bring selections to the night, an undoubted Mango Mind. “Music, like food
knows no borders and my love for music stems from travel & discovery”.
