Managing Application Traffic Reliability and Security on EKS using Tetrate

Organizations commonly encounter collaboration issues between application and platform teams when managing traffic flow, service performance, and resilience. These challenges often result in platform teams being inundated with training, support tickets, and troubleshooting requests, hindering their ability to focus on strategic initiatives.
This workshop will illustrate how Tetrate’s TIS Istio distribution and TIS+ observability and monitoring platform can simplify Day 2 operations by allowing App Teams to self-serve monitoring and troubleshooting. Through real-world examples and use cases, the workshop will showcase how TIS can improve traffic management, especially between clusters, and TIS+ can be used to optimize service performance, and enhance resilience.
By providing a unified platform for managing ingress and service mesh layers on Kubernetes, TIS+ can alleviate the burden on platform teams, allowing them to better support application teams and improve overall operational efficiency.

Prerequisites

• Familiarity with Kubernetes operations
• Basic understanding of Istio concepts
• Laptop for hand-on exercises with TIS+ (using hosted TIS+, so only an internet connection is needed)
• Optionally: access to an empty, throwaway EKS cluster, in which you can recreate some of the demonstrations
