About this Event
This powerful gathering invites women across generations to come together for an honest, healing dialogue about the postpartum experience in Black and Brown communities. Too often, new mothers are met with silence, unrealistic expectations, or harmful “advice” that leaves lasting emotional scars. Together, we will unpack the cultural narratives, traumas, and traditions that have shaped how we show up, or fail to show up, for mothers and children.
Through open conversation, storytelling, and reflection, participants will share:
- Bizarre or outdated postpartum advice passed down through generations
- Words or experiences that caused harm or deepened feelings of isolation
- Cultural values and practices that once offered protection, care, and community, and how we can restore them today.
The goal is to create a space of compassion and truth-telling where we can reclaim community care, strengthen intergenerational understanding, and reimagine what it means to support and protect Black and Brown mothers and families.
Bring your mom, aunt, sister, or friend.
There will be light refreshments.
