Malt Row Hoppy Hour is an intimate tasting and learning series hosted by some of your favorite Chicago breweries and distilleries.
The Ravenswood Industrial Corridor and surrounding area is home to a vibrant craft beverage producing community. Known to some as Malt Row, our neighborhood has earned a reputation as “Chicago’s most diverse beer destination.” At our Hoppy Hour series, you have a chance to taste locally crafted beers and spirits while learning about them from the folks who create them.
If you want to know more about how what you consume is made, or you just like chatting about beer, this series is for you. Malt Row Hoppy Hours are casual, inclusive events open to enthusiasts of all knowledge levels.
Join us at is/was brewing for a guided tasting and conversation focused on saison. From the French/Belgian countryside to Chicago, learn about the brewing process and rich history of this unique beer style from one of the leading brewers in said style.
Mike Schallau has been brewing beer professionally for over a decade. He started at Pipeworks Brewing as an unpaid intern and rose through the ranks to oversee all daily operations, recipe development, and the barrel aging program before departing to start is/was. He has grown is/was brewing from just an idea into one of Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine’s Top 20 Saison Breweries in the world. His beers have won multiple gold medals at the Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beers, has brewed collaboration beers on three continents, and co-hosts the Beer Temple Podcast.
Tickets include admission, four 5oz beer tastings, and a complimentary Malt Row branded 5oz tasting glass to bring home. All sales are final.
