Learn how to take a digital image and add it to shirts, mugs, bookmarks, magnets and more. Perfect for custom swag and gifts.
About this Event

Sublimation Transfer is the process of using a special ink that can be transferred from paper onto objects such as shirts, caps, mugs, bookmarks, magnets and more! This opens up the possibility of taking any digital picture and adding it on to swag to make your own customized gifts and apparel.

In this class, we will go over how sublimation transfer works as well as some other alternative methods used for transferring digital images onto physical objects. We’ll go over key differences and pros and cons of each. Then we’ll have our hands-on part of the class where we will use the printer to prepare our digital images for transfer, followed by using the heat press safely to transfer the images you bring to an object of your choice. No previous experience is required!

Please be ready to start at 1pm! We find that you will need this time to get through the whole class. Our classes tend to sell out about a week in advance so if you're interested, you may want to sign up early.

Supplies:

Bring artwork/images ahead of time (Email to [email protected] or bring a USB)

We have laptops available as well

Size of artwork:

Cap: 6" x 7"

Shirt: 8” x 10.5” or landscape 10.5” x 8”

Mug: 8.5"x 3.8"

Magnet Holder: 3" x 3"

Bookmarks: 1.5" x 6"

Included in the class is a White Shirt, White Cap or Mug and if you’d like, additional magnet holder and bookmark. All items are white as sublimation works best on light colored objects.

Following the class, you'll be able to come to resistor and use the equipment to make more swag at any open craft night.

This class will be taught by Resistor member Jack Poon.

As with all NYC Resistor events, this class is 18+ and governed by our Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct, as well as accessibility information, can be found at www.nycresistor.com/participate/. Please note that refunds must be requested 72 hours in advance. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
