About this Event
Grafting means you can be sure of the variety of fruit and the size of the tree. In this workshop, facilitated by Jeremy Turkington of Home Tree , you will learn how grafting works, before having a go to create your own fruit tree. All participants will get to take away their grafted trees.
The workshop will cover:
- Grafting theory and demonstration
- How to collect and store scion materials
- Grafting of apple trees
- Aftercare of the grafted trees
Attendees will learn how to practice safe knife control and cut both components of the graft.
All equipment and materials will be provided, although you are welcome to bring along some "scion" material - fresh cuttings of last year’s growth from a tree that you would like to propagate.
The workshop will take place at Kane's Farm, Boconnell Lane, Lurgan, BT66 6NE. The entrance to the farm is located opposite opposite Annaghmore Mushrooms, 46 Boconnell Lane, Lurgan, BT66 6NE.
