About this Event
In this fun and family-friendly Moth ID session, we will explore the amazing nocturnal world of moths! This guided activity is perfect for curious children and adults alike.
Learn how to identify different species of moth, the importance of moths as pollinators, and find out more about these butterfly relatives. This session will involve a guided demonstration of removing and IDing moths from a moth trap, placed at Rainton Meadows overnight. Moths come in all shapes, sizes and colours and that is what makes them so magical! Sadly, many of our moths are struggling. The good news is, you can help! Your very own garden can be a haven for both flying adults and their hungry caterpillars.
With around 2,500 species of moth in the UK, there's an amazing amount of diversity to be discovered!
Meeting Point: Please meet inside the Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve Visitor Centre. The session will be based downstairs in the Bellamy Room. Meadows What3Words: ///forgets.frost.newsprint
