Spend your morning exploring two South Philly art gems!
The Magic Gardens Studio.
A high-ceilinged room with mosaics on the walls and floor. Low sculptural walls made of bottles and plates are in the center.
Magic Gardens Studio
In 2007 at the age of 68 Isaiah Zagar began work on what would become his largest art environment, the Magic Gardens Studio. The 10,000 square foot warehouse is completely covered with mosaics and is three times larger than his previous project at the Magic Gardens Museum. The space was recently gifted to the nonprofit Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens (PMG) by Isaiah and his wife Julia and opened to the public in 2024.
A knowledgeable educator will lead a 60 minute tour of the first floor of the studio followed by time to look closely and explore on your own. Learn about the artist, his influences, and the many collaborations that made the Magic Gardens Studio possible. See where tiles were created and materials amassed for Isaiah’s mosaics. Discover how the nonprofit PMG is preserving the space and still actively working in the Studio.
The Dina Wind Art Foundation/John Wind Studio
A century-old firehouse stable houses over 300 dynamic welded metal sculptures and abstract paintings by the late artist Dina Wind (1938–2014) and shares space with the working jewelry and fine art studio of her son, John Wind, acclaimed fine artist, jewelry designer, and president of the Dina Wind Art Foundation.
Guests are invited to tour the studio and collection, enjoy refreshments on the rooftop sculpture deck, and explore and purchase a curated selection of art-to-wear jewelry, fine art, and catalogues—all in support of the Foundation’s mission. This is more than a gallery—it’s a deeply personal creative environment that celebrates fierce women artists, multi-generational artistry, fashion-forward design, and the behind-the-scenes process of a living contemporary artist. An intimate, high-impact experience for both Philly locals and adventurous travelers.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and go on sale one month in advance. Tickets are not refundable.
