For the 5th annual Clara Breed Civil Liberties Lecture, join author Maggie Tokuda-Hall in conversation with podcast host Mike Sakasegawa at San Diego Central Library!An award-winning and notable author with multiple children's and YA published works such as Love in the Library, Maggie will discuss modern day censorship, history and more with Mike.
Maggie Tokuda-Hall reached national attention when she publicly refused to accept a licensing offer for Love in the Library, from Scholastic after they demanded a series of edits to her author’s note that whitewashed the history of Japanese American incarceration during WWII.
Mike Sakasegawa is a writer, photographer and host of Keep the Channel Open, a monthly podcast filled with interviews of artists and writers.

The Clara Breed Civil Liberties Lecture honors Miss Breed's triple legacy of service, decency, and advocacy on behalf of Japanese Americans wrongly imprisoned in concentration camps by the federal government during World War II.
