About this Event

Join us for an insightful evening at BeSocial where conversation and creativity meet to listen to Madness, Misconceptions, and Masterpieces, a thought-provoking lecture led by Professor Megan Smith from UNCC. Discover how the portrayals of mental health in film and TV often fuel stigma, and explore the works that truly get it right.
Afterward, enjoy a special screening of 2 short films, HUMAN KALEIDOSCOPE and FINDING INSPIRATION, followed by a Q&A with filmmakers; Queens University of Charlotte Professor Thomas “Espy” Espenschied, Director Andre Smith, and Actor Randy Watson, as we delve deeper into the impact of these narratives. Sip sodas, wine, or beer as we unravel the complex relationship between mental health and media in this unique blend of art and awareness.
