P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Madhushree Ghosh to celebrate and discuss her new book Safar: Finding Home, History, and Culture through Punjabi Food in the American West .Madhushree wiill be in conversation with Sayu Bhojwani, author of People Like Us.
The evening will feature special Punjabi food and drinks:

Doors open at 6:30pm with the talk starting closer to 7:00pm.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Madhushree Ghosh is the author of the award-winning culinary narrative memoir, Khabaar: An Immigrant Journey of Food, Memory and Family. She has written extensively on food, social justice, women in science, and immigration in The New York Times, Vogue India, Washington Post, Los Angeles Review of Books, Poets and Writers, LA Times and others. Her work has been Pushcart-nominated and published in the Best American Essays in Food Writing. Madhushree runs the popular global literary salon and supper club, KhabaarCo using food to discuss activism, immigration, social justice and community in San Diego, New York, New Delhi and Oaxaca. Madhushree's TEDx San Diego talk What Do We Talk About When We Talk About Food highlights San Diego's East African refugee women farmers of City Heights.An oncology diagnostics executive, Madhushree's culinary narrative memoir, SAFAR: Finding Home, History, and Culture through Punjabi Food in the American Westis a reflection of South Asian-in particular-Punjabi migration to the American West transforming food, travel, prayer and community, is forthcoming from Bloomsbury in June 2026. ABOUT THE MODERATOR:
Sayu Bhojwani is a writer, advocate and civic entrepreneur who founded and led three groundbreaking organizations, all focused on advancing belonging and inclusion. Born in India, and raised in Belize, she is a proud New Yorker who served as the City’s first Commissioner of Immigrant Affairs. Her TED Talk has garnered over a million views, and her debut book, People Like Us: The New Wave of Candidates Knocking at Democracy’s Door (New Press, 2018), was described by Kirkus as “an astute appraisal of how the state of American democracy is being preserved by unexpected political newcomers.” Sayu has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, and other major outlets, and maintains the Substack No. 1 Immigrant Daughter. Sayu holds a Ph.D. in Politics and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and serves on the boards of the Center for Fiction and the North Star Fund. She is writing her debut novel and a nonfiction book on belonging and identity.
