Tickets and Timeline:

Attendees will be checked-in at the front gate, which is located at 1801 E Street, SE. You do not need to bring a printed ticket to the gate: if you have purchased a ticket, your name will be on our registration list.

This is an outdoor event, so please dress for the weather! This performance will happen in the rain (unless conditions are unsafe for performers and guests). Attendees will receive an email the day before their scheduled performance with reminders and updates on weather.

Getting to the Cemetery:

We strongly encourage public transportation to get to Congressional Cemetery. The closest metro station to Congressional Cemetery is Stadium Armory, located on the Orange/Blue/Silver lines. Bikes may be locked inside the Cemetery. There is limited street parking, but we advise visitors to closely read parking signs before finding a spot.

What to Know:

  • Please note that the Cemetery will remain open to off-leash dog walking during the performance.
  • Although this is an outdoor space, there is no smoking permitted.
  • Please wear appropriate footwear as our seating area, and the walk to the seating area, will be in the dark after the sun goes down.
  • Bring a fold up chair or blanket and a lantern or flashlight.
  • The performance runs 75 minutes with no intermission.
  • No onsite ticket sales (only advanced/online ticket sales).
  • Not suitable for children.
  • Please note that Congressional Cemetery is the venue for the event and not the host. Please direct all inquiries to Bob Bartlett (bobbartlettjr @ gmail).

Waiver to Agree to Before Purchase:

“In purchasing an event ticket, the visitor acknowledges the following:

a) The Cemetery grounds are jagged or rough in some areas, and historic monuments are fragile and can be easily toppled. It will also be dark on the paths as this is an after dark performance. Although there will be some lighting on the grounds, the visitor assumes personal responsibility for staying alert and navigating uneven terrain, and will not hold the Association for the Preservation of Historic Congressional Cemetery liable for any claim of personal injury or loss of damage to personal property arising out of, related to, or otherwise occurring during or by reason of the Event.

b) I hereby indemnify and agree to hold harmless Association for the Preservation of Historic Congressional Cemetery from all liability, loss, cost or expense (including attorney's fees) arising out of, related to, or otherwise occurring during or by reason of the Event.

c) In purchasing this ticket, the attendee acknowledges that refunds and date/time exchanges are available with notice of seven days. Attendees will be notified by email of any rain postponement prior to the event. We appreciate your understanding as ticket proceeds are used to fundraise for the Cemetery's non-profit mission. Please double check your selected date/time carefully when checking out.

d) You assume responsibility, as the purchaser of this ticket(s), to inform all parties attending of the above waivers. All attendees MUST abide by and agree to the terms of this waiver regardless if they have purchased the ticket themselves or are attending the event with someone who purchased a ticket for them.

About Congressional Cemetery
With its first burial in 1807, Historic Congressional Cemetery is among the oldest institutions in Washington, DC, and is the final resting place of over 70,000
individuals. Their stories are American history in microcosm, all in 35 acres of the nation’s capital. Still an active burial ground, it is the only place in Washington where individuals can be buried at a site directly on Pierre L’Enfant’s 18th century city plan. Notable interred residents include John Philip Sousa, Belva Lockwood, Mathew Brady, Marion Barry, J. Edgar Hoover, and more.

Historic Congressional Cemetery was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2011 and continues to build upon the legacy of over 200 years of American history. The cemetery is administered by the nonprofit, 501(c)(3), Association for the Preservation of Historic Congressional Cemetery and owned by Christ Church + Washington Parish. The association is constantly striving to maintain the historic, cultural, and aesthetic qualities of this natural landscape along the Anacostia River. Hundreds of volunteers each year help preserve the cemetery and further its nonprofit mission. Congressional hosts hundred of events every year, always striving to engage with the public with creative and positive experiences.
