About this Event
Richard and Megan Grant are a Hobart-based father and daughter sailing team who made history as the first ever father-daughter duo to compete in the Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race.
They competed in the 2025 race aboard Magellan, a Knoop 39 yacht designed and built in Tasmania. Acquired by the Grants in 2013, Magellan has strong local ties, having been designed by Walter Knoop and originally owned by his brother Dick Knoop. The yacht’s deep cockpit, responsive tiller, and efficient underwater profile make it both safe and highly competitive offshore.
Both experienced sailors, Richard and Megan have completed several ocean races together.
In this Lunchtime Talk, Richard and Megan will share their journey to the starting line, including preparing the boat, racing double handed, and managing the personal and logistical challenges of a major offshore race.
The session will conclude with time for questions.
This talk will be recorded for those unable to attend in person.
Places are limited. Please register via Eventbrite to secure your seat.
Our Lunchtime Talks series is supported by Arts Tasmania.
