Celebrating Sanctuary presents Lunchtime Concerts at Symphony Hall in partnership with B:MusicPart 2 of our Autumn series of our much loved Lunchtime Concerts, with more amazing artists from around the World.
We know you'll love the variety of music we are presenting with the return of some favourites, bringing Kora and Balafon from Gambia, virtuoso guitar and song from DR Congo and Sacred Funk from Nigeria and the UK.
No booking required.
October brings Sefo Kanuteh to the stage. He is a virtuosic, soulful and authentic Kora and Balafon player from The Gambia.
He grew up in Foday Kunda on the banks of the River Gambia and was raised by a family of highly skilled kora and balafon players; his musical education was a way of life.
This strong passion for music has been passed down for generations in Sefo’s family and his community - music was not just at the heart of his people, but it defined them.
Having worked closely with artists such as Baba Maal, Sefo's drive to recreate the warmth of his home community in the UK is shown through his inspiring and engaging performances.
Passing on the Kora tradition to the next generation, Sefo performs with his son Julla kanuteh, for a Kora duet and Kora with Balafon.
We look forward to sharing this with you.
