Wilbert Chan is a British Hong Kong cellist who has performed internationally in Asia, Europe and North America. He is currently a Junior Fellow at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where he studied under the tutelage of Professor Tim Lowe. He previously studied with Judith Serkin in the US and Josef Luitz in Vienna and has also appeared in masterclasses with Adrian Brendel, Leonid Gorokhov, Andrew Shulman, Robert Levin and Ralf Gothóni. He is a recent finalist of the 22nd Bacewicz International Competition in Poland. He is also a passionate chamber musician, making regular appearances in chamber music festivals and performing as a member of award-winning Trio Myrthen with which he recently won 3rd Prize in the 28th Luigi Nono International Chamber Music Competition in Italy and 1st Prize in the St. James Chamber Music Competition.
He has performed in London venues such as Milton Court, Cadogan Hall, Bechstein Hall and Royal Albert Hall. He is grateful for the support from organizations such as Help Musicians UK, the Worshipful Company of Girdlers and the Guildhall School Trust.
He plays a 1790 John Betts cello on loan from a private sponsor.
Valentina Wang is an Italian pianist based in London, where she currently works as a professional accompanist at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
She is a graduate of Conservatorio Peri and Conservatorio Venezze in Italy, where she studied solo piano performance, before moving to London to pursue an Artist Diploma in Piano Accompaniment at Guildhall.
She is a prize-winner of several national and international competitions. Most recently, she was a finalist in the 22nd International Bacewicz Chamber Music Competition in Łódź, Poland, and was awarded first place at the 2025 Jubilee Accompaniment Prize at Guildhall.
Recent appearances include performances at Cockermouth Music Society for the Munster Trust, Barbican Concert Hall, Milton Court Concert Hall, St James’s Piccadilly, Musica d’Estate Festival in Bardonecchia, Dialoghi sul comporre Festival in Reggio Emilia, Pistoia Musica Antica, and Kalvia Baroque Festival in (Finland).
