About the Speaker:
Keechant L. Sewell is a seasoned law enforcement and security executive with over 27 years of experience leading high-stakes operations, driving organizational reform, and delivering strategic public safety initiatives. She currently serves as Senior Vice President of Security and Guest Services for the New York Mets, where she oversees safety operations at Citi Field and the club’s affiliated facilities in Brooklyn, Syracuse, Port St. Lucie, and the Dominican Republic. She is also responsible for coordinating transportation logistics and managing relationships with community and government partners.
Previously, Sewell served as the 45th Police Commissioner of the New York City Police Department, appointed by Mayor Eric Adams on January 1, 2022. In this role, she directed the nation’s largest police force through a transformative period, implementing initiatives to improve crime reduction, internal efficiency, and technological innovation.
Sewell is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, where she was selected to deliver the commencement address. She served on the executive board of the federal Joint Terrorism Task Force, co-chaired Counterterrorism Zone 1, and is a New York State-certified police instructor. She has taught courses in strategic communication, interview techniques, and supervisory leadership, and is an FBI-trained hostage negotiator.
