The second of our two weeks in the North East of England is at Finchale Abbey Touring Park (https://www.finchaleabbey.co.uk/about-our-site). This family run, adult only park is in the grounds of the (unfortunately ruined) Finchale Abbey and set on the banks of the River Wear. Facilities are first class and there is an on-site Coffee Shop and Farm Shop. Durham with its Castle and waterfront is 6m from the site.
As well as the delights of Durham, there are lots of other places to visit....National Trust Crook Hall (6m). the Living Museum at Beamish (11m), the costal towns of Seaham (17m) and Sunderland (18m) and for those who need a “Shopping fix” try the Metro Centre at Gateshead (16m)
