Wednesday 31st July - Summer themed portrait session
Lesson in portrait drawing with a model dressed for summer. Learn the basics of how to draw the face and head step-by step in pencil and charcoal with tips about shading and proportions. Suitable for beginners.
Wednesday 7th August - Flora and Fauna drawing in watercolour
Study of exotic plant, animal and insect life, drawing inspiration from the garden setting. Drawings to be rendered in hard pencil before colours added in watercolour and fine-lined in pen.
Wednesday 14th August - Botanical drawing in watercolou
Utilising the garden setting we will study plants and the illustrated books which record in detail the flora and fauna of plant and animal life through the ages. Drawings will be made in pencil before colouring with watercolour and finally outlining in black fine-liner.
Wednesday 21st August - Charcoal and pencil portrait drawing
Lesson of portrait drawing using pencil and charcoal looking at the tradition of classical fine art and how we render form and volume through shading, from beginner level up to intermediate and beyond.
About Rod Kitson
Rod is an artist living and working in London. His work focuses on the act of making the art rather than aiming for perfect outcomes. In 2020, he hosted three hugely successful art projects at his pop-up gallery-shop and has created Classes of 2020 and 2021 showing group exhibitions at Surrey Quays shopping centre.
