About this Event
Love Parade! Remembering Claude Cormier, Landscape Architect
A Waterfront Parks Bike Tour
Date: Friday, May 22
Time: 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Join us for a guided bike tour celebrating some of Toronto’s most beloved waterfront parks, and the playful, generous design legacy of Claude Cormier!
This relaxed, social bike tour will travel through five signature parks along Toronto’s central waterfront, bringing together designers, project partners, City representatives, and park enthusiasts for an afternoon of conversation, reflection, and celebration.
Along the route, we’ll pause at each park for brief remarks on each park’s vision, design thinking, and impact on the city, while situating these places within the broader story of Toronto’s evolving waterfront.
The event is intended as both a celebration of public space and a collective moment of remembrance honouring Claude Cormier’s enduring contribution to Toronto’s park landscape and his ability to infuse joy, colour, and meaning into the public realm.
Space is limited – Don't miss out!

About Claude Cormier
Claude Cormier (1960–2023) was one of Canada’s most influential and beloved landscape architects—an audacious, joyful, and deeply human designer whose work forever transformed how people experience public space. Through his Montréal based practice, CCxA, he redefined the role of landscape architecture in the city, blending art, urbanism, humour, and cultural expression into places meant to be shared, celebrated, and loved.
While Montréal was the base of his practice, Claude Cormier’s influence reaches well beyond. In Toronto, parks including HTO Park, Love Park, Berczy Park, Sugar Beach, and Leslie Lookout Park remind us of Cormier and his team’s devotion to designing public spaces that invite delight.
This waterfront bike tour honours Claude Cormier by moving through the very parks that embody his design philosophy. Experiencing them by bike, as a connected sequence of public spaces highlights not only their individual character but also their collective contribution to Toronto’s evolving waterfront and public realm. The tour offers a moment to reflect on how Cormier’s legacy continues to shape the way people gather, play, and find joy in the city.
Love Parade! is both a celebration of these remarkable landscapes and a tribute to a designer whose work reminds us that public space can, and should be poetic, inclusive, and unapologetically joyful.
