Gallery of Modern Masters welcomes local jeweler Jeffrey Goebel, bringing: Love, Art, and Gold
First Friday Art Walk
February 6 | 4:00–8:00 PM
Just in Time for Valentine’s Day
Celebrate love, art, and craftsmanship at the Gallery of Modern Masters during Sedona’s First Friday Art Walk on Friday, February 6, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Guests are invited to enjoy an evening of beauty and connection while sipping wine, savoring chocolates, and exploring fine art and handcrafted jewelry in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
This special First Friday will showcase Sedona silver and goldsmith Jeffrey Goebel, who will be in attendance to meet guests and share stories from his lifelong journey in jewelry making. His work reflects a deep devotion to the ancient and enduring art of metalsmithing.
Jeffrey Goebel’s journey into jewelry making began in 1966, in the bustling bazaars of Iraq, where he lived with his family in the Middle East for four years. Immersed in a world of artisans, fire, and metal, he became fascinated by the craft at an early age. As he later reflected, “I was influenced by the sounds of jewelers pounding on metal, and the torch flames drew me in. I wanted to be part of that ancient tradition.”
After leaving the Middle East, Goebel attended high school in Frankfurt, Germany, before returning to the United States to study at Northern Arizona University in the early 1970s. There, he gained his first opportunity to work at the bench, developing his own custom designs, refining his style, and honing the skills that would define his career.
He went on to work for fine jewelry stores in Tucson, California, and the Virgin Islands, gaining broad experience across diverse markets. In 1987, he returned to Arizona with his family and purchased Ramsey’s at the Y in Sedona, which he ran alongside his wife, Marcia, for 18 years.
Designing jewelry with the rarest gems and precious metals has been, in his words, “a true gift.” Jeff finds his greatest joy in seeing his creations worn through the years and passed down as cherished heirlooms to future generations. A longtime resident of Sedona, he remains deeply connected to the region. He specializes in fine gold work and the use of rare Arizona gemstones, creating pieces that honor both tradition and the natural beauty of the Southwest.
Whether you are searching for the perfect Valentine’s gift or simply looking for a beautiful way to spend the evening, this First Friday Art Walk offers an inviting experience where art, jewelry, wine, and chocolates come together. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Jeffrey Goebel in person, learn about his process, and discover jewelry made to be treasured for generations. All are welcome to share in this celebration of craftsmanship, love, and community.
