Emerson Theater Collaborative is proud to bring Black Irish by Jeffrey Kagan-McCann to Sedona AND Prescott, Arizona. This play is a sharp, funny, and quietly gut-punching one-act following Ruairí Phelan, a young African-American man who crosses the ocean to a tiny Irish farming town in search of the Phelans—his grandfather’s family. They believe Uncle Patrick died decades ago. They have no idea he’s been alive in America all this time. The script weaves twists, heart, and humor with the ease of a seasoned storyteller—“as intoxicating as a slug of good whiskey,” wrote Melanie McFarlane of The Seattle Times. The play also earned audience-favorite status, winning Best Play at the 2019 Hartford Fringe Festival.
Written and Directed by Jeffrey Kagan-McCann. Produced by Camilla Ross
