A legendary Cajun rock band reunites. Atchafalaya is known for blending traditional Cajun sounds with southern rock, country and blues influence. Formed in the late 1970s, the band has been performing together for over 45 years, earning a loyal fan base across Louisiana and beyond.Atchafalaya gained National and International attention through their high energy performances, heartfelt songwriting, and commitment to preserving Cajun culture while evolving their sound. They toured overseas, performing in countries like Turkey, Morocco, Czechoslovakia and Portugal, where they were praised for their musicianship and cultural outreach.
The band has featured a lineup of talented Louisiana musicians, including lead guitarist/singer Charlie Rees, rhythm guitarist/singer Chris Foreman, guitarist/fiddle player/singer Larry Menard, bass Lance Lafargue, and longtime drummer David Varisco. They have performed at festivals, concert halls, and community events throughout the Gulf south. With their roots deeply planted in Acadiana, Atchafalaya continues to be proud ambassadors of Cajun heritage, delivering music that gets people dancing, and keeps the Louisiana spirits alive.
